Who is The Neat Nerd?
My name is Carolyn and I confess that I’m a bit of a nerd. Not to be confused with a geek. People often use the two terms interchangeably but geeks and nerds are not the same though it is possible to be members of both groups simultaneously. This simplest way to think of it is that geeks have a deep interest in a particular thing and they know about it on an expert level. Nerds on the other hand tend to be obsessed with academics, i.e. math, science, physics, etc. So what does this mean for you? Well, not only can I help get you organized, but I can also help with just about any math problem your throw at me. I’ve always loved math!
I haven’t always embraced being neat and organized but I have always been a nerd. I have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and I’ve been a software engineer for over a decade. I like brain games and puzzles. I've been organizing on some level for over 30 years. That's right, I was the 12 yr old that cleaned my brothers room for pay. But even I went through a messy period. My room always looked like my closet exploded. My desk looked like I shared it with a bunch of blind monkeys. But one day it struck me that I really didn’t like looking for stuff. I found that I was less frustrated and had more time to do the things that I liked when I didn’t have to clean up or search for papers and other things. So slowly but surely, I became more and more neat. Now even my messes have some kind of order. And then it began to spread. I ran out of things to neaten in my own space so I began to neaten my family and friends. I organized my co-workers. Organizing is a lot like solving a puzzle and I actually find it to be relaxing. I’m very drawn to boxes and containers and I take advantage of every opportunity to wander around places like the Container Store and IKEA. I guess you can say I am a nerd who is fast becoming a geek about organizing.
I look forward to helping you solve your organizing puzzle and creating the freedom from stress and clutter that you desire.
